The three women had some time to kill since it was still late in the afternoon. The club was all but but empty, save for the employees and a couple of other customers besides themselves.
Jaina and Keighley were talking shop near the stage when Alia came back from the bar, served up the drinks, and took her seat at the table with them.
"So, what was it like for you? The first time, I mean?" Jaina asked.
Keighley gave it some thought before answering. "It's kind of hard to explain." She began. "I didn't even realize he was my first until I watched him die."
She illustrated that it took a few months time working with Joaquin before it finally happened, and then continued:
"I was helping a customer search our artifact database one morning, and after some time, he worked up the nerve and started flirting with me." She went on. "I had no interest in him, but he was trying so hard. I thought it was charming."
She smiled at the memory and took a sip of her drink before forging ahead:
"I could tell that he didn't have much experience with women, so I thought I'd help boost his confidence and reciprocate...Anyway, it turned out that we didn't have the item he was looking for in stock, so I talked him into buying a couple of trinkets so he wouldn't feel like he wasted a trip."
"On his way out the door, he hesitated, and clumsily asked me out."
"Poor fella. How did he take it?" Jaina asked.
"Well, he was an awkward guy and very, very shy, but actually, like I said, I thought he was charming, so I gave him my contact info as I escorted him to the door."
"Awww. That was sweet of you." Alia chimed in.
"Before he walked out, I said to him, 'now that you have my number, don't be afraid of me.' and gave him a kiss on the cheek."
Keighley paused a moment before she went on.
"Blushing beet red, He walked backwards out the door. He was thanking me, and saying that we were going to have a great time when the weekend comes, and not paying attention, he accidentally stumbled off of the curb and fell onto the street...The vehicle struck him almost immediately, and was killed instantly."
"To this day, I still wish that he would've thought to ask me my name."
