They are doing what any operative does, trying to gain information and materials to gain an upper hand against everyone else. As for Miss Aisling, she is fine, we've come to an understanding and found that they are legitimate, we allowed them to go as they will - but we have found a commonground, to understand the Nomads.
As for the "NO" - no, I don't know what their diplomacy is, but I can imagine they're trying to stay on their good side. They didn't seem to be hostile, and they desired to appeal to them - as you've seen with their bartering attempts.
