The Claw of the Phoenix - Julia Smith

Biography:

Julia had a rather unspectacular childhood until she became eleven years old. Shortly after her eleventh birthday, her father started to teach her how to fly a Light Fighter Class Vessel. Her father was very proud of her because she was able to control a light Vessel at the age of 12 without the need of any instructions or help, so he decided to buy her a small ship once she becomes fourteen years old. A "Scimitar"-Class Light Fighter it should be, he was sure that she'd love it. A few months after her 14th Birthday, after she got her very own first ship, Julia, her Family and some friends of her parents got attacked by Nomads while heading to a visit in New York. Her Parents said they'd have a surprise for Julia. No one was prepared for the Attack, there were no Fighters flying with them. It was no wonder that they didn't stand a chance in that Liner they were flying in. Her Father, who was in control of the Ships defense protocols, got killed after an explosion in the Control Center of the ship. Julia got separated from her Mother as they were both heading to the Escape pods. Luckily some friends of her parents saw Julia and took her with them to the Escape Pods. Her Mom sadly wasn't able to get in those Pods fast enough. The ship exploded. Julia knew what happened. She knew that she just lost both of her parents. Shortly after the explosion, an emergency squadron, sent by Freeport 9, arrived and rescued the surviving people. Since that day Julia suffers from a severe fear of loss of people important to her. After staying two months in the hospital her 15th birthday was coming close. She decided to leave the Freeport and start an expedition through Sirius, once she becomes 15 years old. Which she did, exactly on the day she became 15.

The years passed by.

Julia flew through many Systems, explored Sirius, looked for a new home... But she never found a place where she wanted to stay for longer than a half year. After years of earning money, by providing escorts, trading Commodities from House System to House System and hunting down Criminals, she finally made enough money to buy a Large Ship. So she headed back... back to the Omicrons, back to where everything began. After two Months of flying from system to system, she finally reached her Destination, Livadia Shipyard in Omicron Kappa. Julia met an old friend of her parents there. He was the Captain of an "Aquilon"-Class Carrier called "Briareos". Sadly he was dying and the doctors said he would only have a few weeks left. Julia spent his last weeks together with him and she became the daughter he never had and he the father she once lost. After his passing, Julia was asked to meet the old man’s lawyer. He had something for her. Something precious that once belong to the old captain. What was it she wondered. Perhaps a small artifact from his past days as a captain? Perhaps that book he always wanted her to read when she was still a young girl? A shock she was in, when the lawyer read his last will and testament. The Briareos, his zoner carrier, it should be. Two weeks later, she met a Nephilim Captain named Lars Dross. They talked for a while and somehow Julia became his personal Escort wing. She bought herself an "Osprey MkII"-Class Zoner Long Range Escort in order to follow him wherever he is heading to. Together they flew through many systems and had a very rough time doing so. Many people were hunting Captain Dross.

After some time they met a girl named Iona in a severely damaged "Aquilon"-Class Carrier. At that point, Julia didn't know much about her, but they got along well together and Iona started roaming through the Omicrons with them. Two months later everything repeated itself again. It was a rather quiet day, Julia, Iona and Cpt. Dross were just flying their regular daily route through the omicrons as suddenly some Nomads appeared in front of them and started attacking them. They were too many. Her Carrier was severely damaged in this attack and Julia was severely injured. She was taken to the hospital on Livadia, where she spent several months in a coma. When she finally woke up from her coma, they were all gone. The Arcadia, Cpt. Dross's Nephilim had disappeared and Iona went her separate way.

Julia had to spend most of the money she had left and time in order to repair her damaged Briareos. After two Months the repairs were finally done and she was able to continue her journey. She flew through the Omicrons and as she arrived at Taba Starbase in Omicron Mu, she met an old friend again, Iona. They talked to each other for quite some time and Iona told Julia what she missed. Cpt. Dross is gone, he left Sirius. Iona didn't know why he did so, but at least she knew something. Iona herself joined an Order Faction called the "Omicron Research Group" and invited her to join them.

Julia, who developed a big hatred against the Nomads, gave it a try and joined the ORG'S, Military Wing. She gave away her Carrier and became the captain of an Order "Osiris"-Class Battleship as exchange. Her job was to protect the Research Wing and all its operations at all cost, which she did successfully for the next few months. After half a year, Julia and Iona had a big argument about a Mission she got assigned to. After disobeying the Order given to her, Julia wasn't able to stay in the ORG anymore, so she transferred all important data from her Osiris to her Bastet and flew away from Mu, leaving everything behind, her Friends, her Ship, everything, once more.

A few days later, somewhere in the omicrons.

Julia knows that she's running out of food and water slowly, she knows that she'll have to find a station soon or she'll die due to dehydration. While studying her Navmap, searching for the next station to dock at, she suddenly got attacked. This time they weren't Nomads, or at least Julia thought so, they weren't flying Nomad Ships but they were equipped with the same Cloaking technology as the Order is using. Before she even managed to charge her weapons, she fainted. That's the last thing she remembers from that day.

Julia doesn't know what happened, but as she awakes from her coma one year later on Planet Manhattan, a man that she's never seen before explains to her what happened:
He found her ship drifting through Omega-55 probably a few hours after the initial attack on Julia.
He rescued her from the ship and tried to save as many parts of the ship as possible.
On that day he saved Julias live, as well as her Codename Weaponry and her cloaking device from the ship.
He brought her to a hospital on Planet Manhattan, where she got taken care of.

Julia was wondering how he knew about her, so she asked him. They talked for a while and he explained to her, that he's her Brother Brian, that he's the reason why her parents wanted to come to Liberty 12 years ago. He also told her, that he met Iona in Liberty once and that she told him that Julia left the ORG. After that day Brian visited her daily and helped her with her rehabilitation. She was heavily injured at that day in Omega-55, multiple rips were broken, as well as her left shin and she lost the eyesight in her right eye. 6 Months had passed, 6 Painful months of rehabilitation. Now Julia is finally well again. Brian bought her a "Falchion"-Class Very Heavy Fighter and equipped it with the leftover weaponry as well as the cloaking device from her old ship and gave it to Julia.

Now Julia is finally able to continue her journey again.
