I haven't been updating this log very much at all, but now that I've had this setback and I have nothing better to do I should probably write something.

A couple of days ago during long range testing of the power cell in the Frankfurt system, my ship suffered a temporary power failure which disabled my navigation equipment and subsequently I struck an asteroid which then diverted my ship onto a course that led to a rogue mine. The damage to my ship wasn't catastrophic, however the shock did disable some systems and now requires some fairly extensive internal repair.

There is, however, a silver lining. This incident has shown that the Osprey design does have some flaws; those mostly pertaining to it's handling of impact and shock. As a result, I've decided that instead of sectioning off part of my cargo hold to house the power cell, it'll be mounted externally under my ship in a place that it doesn't protrude from the ship's head-on profile. This also makes an electrical systems rework a lot simpler since I can attach an external cable to route electricity to the heavy gun mounts under the cockpit at the front of the ship, and I can more easily run additional power to the top gun mount to increase it's effectiveness.

The new modification plan

I'm having the ship towed back to Ames where the power cell can be repaired by the IRG folks, then once that's done I need to find someone that can modify my ship to make these plans happen. Should be pretty straightforward from here.
