i personally don't like this type of player influenced events though. ppl stop playing for fun and instead play to win, it will always be a 'everything goes' kinda approach when either side has something to lose, even if its something minor.

This is important, too. The playing to win vs playing for fun. At first, I liked the idea of being able to influence the story. But now after trying to do it, it was not as glamorous as I thought it was gonna be. People tend to do the old "ends justify the means" with stuff like that. Tbh I like the freedom to influence the story, but honestly, it makes it less enjoyable and more stressful. It becomes less of a game and more of like an obligation or job.
