It's good to be back in Liberty. Sure, Rheinland (or at least as much of it as I saw on my way to and from the Cologne system) is pretty neat, but there's just something so much more vibrant about Liberty. Anyway, why am I here?

Well, I'm waiting to get another one of those fancy IRG power cells from the smart folks up in the Kepler system. You might think that waiting around would be boring, but I have a couple of things to get sorted out before I can get to working on installing that new power cell into my ship as it's main powerplant.

The first of which, and probably most important, is getting the scratch together to pay for the lengthy rebuild that'll probably be required to get the power cell mounted externally and have it be able to adequately distribute power to all of my ship's systems. I am after-all, essentially moving the entire source of power for the ship from basically one end to the other, which means almost every single power system has to be rewired. With a ship as large and complicated as the Osprey this is no small feat, and I'll likely have to look for a professional ship-building company to get them to modify my ship. This will all cost a lot of money, and as well off as I am from my old escorting days, it could wipe my accounts clean. All worth it for a ship you love though, isn't it? Well probably not which is why I have to make more money so I don't go bankrupt, but anyway.

The second task is to find a new mount for the top centre gun. As standard as gun mounts across ships in sirius are, the way the standardised mount fits onto the ship might not be, particularly when you take into account the roof-like geometry that runs along the top of the ship in the location of the gun not to mention the fact that I want a mount that accepts a class of gun higher than the one it's rated for currently. I have an idea though. There are these weird ships that have been showing up around sirius, some kind of drone but I'm not sure who operates them. Either way, when destroyed what they leave (when they haven't been vaporized) seems to be fancy new technology which could be useful should I spend more time researching it. There's plenty of data to be gleaned from these remains, as well as physical components which could be retrofitted. I've even seen some drop weapons, which fire a beam of some kind that I've never seen before. I've only had a chance to engage these strange vessels a couple of times; the last one was in Sigma 19 while I was out there testing the power cell, and the time before that was months and months back, maybe even over a year ago in New York.

I'll have to further investigate the possibility of using these resources to upgrade my ship. Perhaps even kill two birds with one stone, and get paid while doing it. Who knows.
