we have quite some funny shifts of opinions there that become even funnier when we take other threads into account.

firstly - the civilian bomber is OK. - its a brick, its easy to hit and its extra armour doesn t make up for the bricklike handling. - but its a bomber and its a true civilian ( for those factions that are down to civilian ships ) -> it IS one of the worst bombers. - but then, gaians angels are one of the worst lvl9 faction guns, and gaians still got to use them. ( sorry, i m limited to zoners and gaians - i hardly play other factions, so its only those i pull up for examples all the time )

the taiidan bomber is really a faction based ship - GMG. and thats it. the fact that its sold on a freeport means nothing ( ! ) about its RP use ( remember, corsair turrets and order turrets are sold on capetown BHG base - and we know its wrong ).

the argument that "we only use it untill the next version is out" is void. - remember the denial of liberty primary warships guns for the BHG? - the BHG has no faction guns at all. - they are friendly ( at least the lore suggests that, not the playerfactions ) to the liberty forces - actually VERY friendly as they originate there. - and the liberty navy [SA] refused to let the BHG buy their most basic primary turrets. - it was said that the BHG must get zoner primary turrets. replace the guns with ships - and you ll see that only the most generic free for all equipment is available when it comes to faciton based gear.

i have written contradicting things to some opinions in italic. - this was the consensus of a general mood about using non faction equipment that is not clearly labled free for all ( like supernovas ). those statements are not my opinion, but cropped up in other threads as examples that boil down to the same effect.



now, reality is different - and must be different. i do not think its a problem to fly another factions ship - BUT... just like capital ships... it needs at least an agreement with the most powerful playerfaction representing the faction you wish to get the ship from. - i do believe we have some GMG factions. - so if the xenos RPed an agreement about some of the ships under the circumstances that they do actually dislike the GMG - its all fine.
on Clover, i had to make a personal petition to the elders of the corsairs to get a praetorian bomber, instead of a civvie bomber. and they are allies of the gaians. - i would never have just purchased a praetorian without telling them and getting their consent.

so, i think its no problem for other factions to fly other factions ships - as long as the agreement has been RPed and there is a logfile of the agreement for those that are interested reading up. ( the GMG is a trading faction, - the greatest enemies of a trading faction are enemy bombers. - the GMG will make SURE that the xenos will NEVER attack them in their own bombers - that for certain )

about all other factions. - there is no difference to the xenos. - when you re not GMG, you have to ask them. even a zoner should ask them, as - we all know... the zoners have a ship they call their own. its the civilian bomber.
we had the discussion with the BHG and the liberty BC. ppl said - as long as your faction has a ship that fufils the same role, you should not get another factions ship - no matter how much yours suck. why do we only apply that logic to the capital ships ( or to the BHG faction ).

and like i mentioned in the thread. i would allways say that exceptions must be made for those that roleplay getting another factions ship. ( allthough, as far as i remember, quite some ppl said "no, no exceptions" )

leaves to say:

if you do have the RP to fly one, you are free to go. - but you need the appropriate RP. - we are playing in the here and now, not in the "only untill 4.85 is out". roleplay happens in the present.

edit: sorry that post was a bit harsher than usual - but i felt like it would be appropriate to apply the arguments made in other threads into this one. people like to forget about what they said and agreed on when other factions are concerned - but the limitations and RP requirements apply to all factions the same. and i do not like factions ( npc factions ) being treated differently - unless their ingame lore suggests it.
