This latest clash between Kusari and Rheinland further clarifies The Guild's role in the ongoing strife and redefines our strategy.
It is clear that these two neighbouring houses have no regard for GMG sovereignty nor its rightful ownership of the Sigma systems, including Planet Saigon. The politics of House Rheinland have never truly accepted The Guild as an autonomous entity and while there has been relative peace for centuries, there has always been an undercurrent of hostility, proliferated in particular by Imperial elements such as Kruger Minerals, the Unioners and other individuals with extremist views. GMG enjoys a special relationship with House Kusari, however the reintegration of the Imperial Kusari Navy, the ever-present hand of Samura Industries and now the attractive prospect of a fertile breadbasket planet are apparently motivation enough to invade the Sigma systems.
Which House will be victorious is entirely unknown. It may even be the case that the leaders of each will come to their senses, to a degree, and decide to carve Sigma-21 between the two, presenting a united front against the Gas Miners Guild. What is known is that regardless of the outcome of the current struggle, there will be an attempted hostile occupation of rightful Guild space by Rheinland, Kusari, or both.
This cannot be permitted.
As a result, the involvement of our paramilitary should be intelligently minimal. House Rheinland and House Kusari are most welcome to trade blows throughout the Sigmas and their own respective space. They are invited to weaken, degrade and diminish their military strength and economical capacity. They will lower themselves to a level that will aid our own continuous pursuit of peace, prosperity and, most importantly, independence.
Targets of opportunity will still be sought. Rheinland targets will be struck. However, the heavy lifting will be left to the Kusari Naval Forces and Rheinland Military for them to destroy each other. It is most regrettable Kusari would throw away its friendship with us, and Rheinland desires a re-enactment of the 80-Years War, but circumstances are not always fortunate.
