Background

The sisters of the light are a religious group among the outcasts and represent the spiritual beliefs of the outcasts as a whole. They are a female-only priesthood, and as such identify well with the golden chrysanthemums in kusari, who fight for women's rights.

For centuries past, the sisters of the light have been charged with simple tasks within outcast space; they conduct religious services on malta, and are caretakers to the dead outcast warriors taken to the Siniestre graveyard in omicron alpha. Many priestesses of the cult are granted limited telepathic prowess due to their heavy use of cardamine, and a select few have even communicated directly with the 'holy spirits' - known to others as nomads.

Recently, the sisterhood has taken up a crusade to cleanse Sirius of all non-believers in the holy spirits. Their primary enemies in this crusade are the corsairs, and the secretive organization known as the Order. The group often preys upon weaker targets, however - only going after military groups when backed by the might of the outcast fleets.

Primary tasks to members of the Sisterhood:

1. Maintain the graves of the fallen. The outcasts who have been sent to the graveyard within the Siniestre cloud are to be protected and watched over by the sisters of the light. Anyone - outcast or otherwise - who attempts to defile these graves or enter the holy ground of omicron 90 are to be warned, and then attacked if that warning is not heeded.
'looting' of the graveyard ships by anyone other than the sisters of the light will not be tolerated. Any ships passing into omicron 90 from alpha are to be considered trespassing on holy ground - they will be hunted down and executed.

2. Maintain the security of outcast space. The sisters of the light are quickly becoming a militaristic group with their crusade against the non-believers. They have taken up arms in this crusade, and are learning the arts of war. As both training exercise and for security, the sisters of the light assist other outcasts with the patrolling of outcast space (omicron alpha, omicron beta, omicron eta, and omicron 85(with permission)).

3. Furthering the crusade. The sisterhood occasionally travels into foreign space to press their faith to the unenlightened masses. They pose the question "Do you bow to the lightbringers?" and request a small donation as proof of devotion and faith. All who attempt to flee or do not lend their donation are to be considered blasphemers to the light, and subsequently purged by fire.
