Money these days is everywhere. If you can't get it by selling stuff on the forums, you can get it by powertrading whatever happens to be the premium powertrading commodity of the month.
Adding in a bonus adds incentive for people to sit in system and duke it out in your event, instead of shrugging it off and doing more uncut diamond runs or xeno relics runs. The size of the bounty also affects this.

It's a nice addition, yeah, but it also adds in a reward for participating in an event with a pre-determined outcome.

The outcome of this event is fixed.
