Yesterday a routine recon patrol into Languedoc to asses the system's mining activity and defenses turned into a hostile encounter with some unexpected Gallic locals. While I had predicted that Guillestre's departure from Tau-23 would lessen the Royal Navy presence in the neighboring systems, I did not take into account that their absence would be soon replaced by Gallic criminals and rebels that took their place in Languedoc yesterday.

The operation started with legionario Chavez taking vanguard and heading into the Languedoc system while being considerable distance ahead of me. Our RV point was to be the vicinity of the Aveyron Nebula. Once I made my jump into Languedoc I noticed that Chavez was not responding to my transmissions so I notified our forces on Cali that backup could be needed. Following initial plan I proceeded to 4C where our rendezvous was to be.

Upon arrival I encountered legionario Chavez under attack by both the SBS (some branch of the Corse mafia) as well as the Maquis radicals. Given the situation I quickly engaged the Gallics to ease off the pressure on Chavez. Sadly we were outnumbered at least two or three to one. Thankfully my call for backup was answered and our own reinforcements were on their way, but a system away. Their numbers slowly burned out the hull integrity of Diego Chavez's Sabre and before our backup had arrived the Gallics managed to take him down. An interesting thing to note is the Liberty Rogue cruiser that was present at the engagement. The ship remained neutral in the conflict, but its very presence does raise some questions that the Rogues would obviously dodge.

Roughly two minutes after Chavez was taken out Pyros, Serpentes and Rojo arrived. The enemy forces quickly lost any formation and split into two - the Maquis that jumped to Tau-44 and the Corse that stayed in Languedoc. With their tactical disarray and our now numerical advantage we quickly cleaned them out one by one. From the encounter only two of their ships managed to escape - one Maquis and one SBS.

Chavez has been successfully recovered but will need a new ship. Damage to the rest of our ships is minimal. The assumption that Languedoc will be left unprotected was wrong and we should adjust to this mistake. I've attached ship logs to my report.
