As far as I know the Rheinland and Nomad battleships are completely immune to missiles and torpedos, but the others have vulnerable areas. I'll leave you to work out where!
And it only applies to battleships - a cruiser with a bs shield can still be damaged by missiles.
As for the Nova, I used it quite a lot with bandersnatch and found that it doesn't fly fast enough to be much useful in pvp. If it was as fast as the Sunslayer, it would be more useful. It did seem to do damage against shields, but it's best to wait until the shields are down before using missiles and torps (unless using things like Paralyzer). Good luck for the battle.
