"Realistically" isn't the most correct term here. It is all in the eyes of the observer. I don't want to accuse anyone of anything, or claim bias, but there are people who think that the Council being able to push as far as they did, and having the resources they have, is a little far-fetched. I somewhat feel the same way, but I like the RP opportunities it brings.
All in all, the things that took place over the last few years leave a lot of room for nitpicking. Both sides might have issues with some aspects of the storyline, so I won't dive into that can of worms. Instead, I'll just attend the event (if I can) and keep playing my Gauls once the war is over.
