He sighed and sunk his head a bit as emotions of happier times past overtook him. He put his glass down so that his hands could just fall together in his lap.
"No," escaped his lips in a soft, barely audible voice. He sat motionless and quiet as he remembered vividly how angry he was with William Mortimer and how he didn't deserve the fate he received.
He sat, his left elbow planted on the armrest of his chair while his hand supported his head. He broke his stance long enough to refill his glass before returning to sulk in his chair, the glass in his right hand. He sipped it before saying anything else.
"He was an honorable man," he said softly in remembrance, "he came to reason with me, to guarantee that I would be left alone if I had placed my estate as property of the University." He sighed. "I saw it as handing my home over to the Crown and became incensed, not at him but the very thought that again the Crown would get the best of me."
He then quickly consumed the contents of his glass and sat still. "I do wish that I could forget that day. He did not not deserve his fate."
