Good Evening,

Today, while working a connecting run on our assigned route (Thorium MOX for a buyer on Nuremburg in exchange for High-Temperature Alloy needed on Cold Bay), we were accosted and fired upon by a Hessian pirate IDing as Bastard. As we were passing Dortmund and Essen Stations on our way through New Berlin, the Hessian came out of the trade lane from the Hamburg gate, disabled the trade lanes, and attempted to extort ten million credits from us. As we were still in close proximity to Dortmund and Essen stations, I ordered my helmsman to dock with the nearest station, in this case Dortmund.

We had to engage in a short firefight before we could get far enough into the stations defensive sphere to force the pirate to retreat. Fortunately, the defensive and offensive upgrades we recently received kept us in one piece. We were struck on our hull by at least two enemy torpedoes, but our armour held well enough for nanobots to repair the worst of the damage. Our gunners are less than impressed with the damage output of the Zapper turrets we received at our last refit, but their outstanding accuracy helps make up for it.

We are currently in the process of receiving basic repairs with the assistance of the crew here on Dortmund, who have also graciously assisted us in stabilising our cargo while we're here. As soon as repairs are complete, we well resume our assigned route. You will find attached to this report a communication log from the time of this incident. We are also, as per company policy, filing a claim with Interspace for $311,586 to reimburse us for repairs due to combat damage as well as replacing the nanobots and shield batteries we expended reaching safety.
