I agree that having 2 or 3 people who will serve as mediators probably wont help much if only the dev side trust them, and that "poking people on discord" isnt a good way to handle this either. But unless you just want to "rock the boat" until someone or everyone falls off, you should provide concrete alternatives which you think are better.
I already gave two alternatives: Make the first step of asking if something is theoretically possible public on the forum (people will be more trusting, the ideas can be crowdsourced to improve quality and reduce work load on devs and proposers), and have mediators that are not only approved by staff but also the community (I did that on discord 6 months or so ago and it got rejected).
