You are mighty touchy about pirates aren't you? Every little discussion you blow a fuse over it. I never said you had bad RP, but those I seen have. To date my good pirate encounters have all be pirates in factions, generic ones? not so much. Most just float around wherever the most prey is, and say "2mil or die!" (Like alot of other "unlawfuls" mind you).
No matter how you put it, about how the dragons/mollies, etc aren't pirates, we are talking about pirating. Something they do.
Yes ... I do get a bit touchy on this subject since I have developed a fairly solid role for my pirate. I too get upset at those who misuse the ID. But I can't control them. I'd like to say that we NOT throw out the baby with the bathwater. Just because a few bad apples are about doesn't mean we need to be rid of the ID. Instead ... I think the Pirate ID should be treated like the Terrorist ID. Xenos and Blood Dragons are terrorists ... as are the Gaians. But the generic Terrorist ID is only given out by the admins. Pirate ID should be treated the same way. Only those who can prove a solid pirate role should be allowed one.
' Wrote:come on guys....that "2 mil or die" line is quite useful you know? WHY? because you don't have the time to chat more, traders never stop and chat, IF they stop they only ask "how much?" (i do it myself).... think about it...most pirates in history just carried a black flag and there were no questions asked...they were just berserking and raiding, sinking the victims ship and taking all the precious cargo. (on other servers that was actually profitable, we used one ship to carry the goods and 2 bombers to take down anyone)
I dont know who came up with the cheesy "tax" term....when did legends speak of pirates taxing? THEY TOOK EVERYTHING!!! leaving the victim dead or on brink of death.
why arent pirates actualy allowed to pirate?....ok they dont carry the flag....but you could make the "2 mil or die" line act as a sort of pirate "flag"
"2 mil or die" is a very old one liner. I quit using that phrase very early on. Traders are more likely to role play with you if you don't demand so much ... then you also get the traders that would "rather die than pay" a single credit. You don't have to demand a lot to have good role play. I typically demand a simple (modest) 500,000 credits. That way ... the trader gets to make his money and I get to role play piracy. Those that don't pay ... I get their cargo. Trust me ... traders pay MORE than 500,000 to purchase a full load of cargo. And they get MORE than a couple mil for selling it at the other end. So its much more profitable for the trader to go ahead and pay the pirate if he can't get away.
You are correct that you've gotta type quickly while still maneuvering your ship ... just shows who the better pilots are. But this should not be an excuse for poor role play dialogue.
' Wrote:My pirate never does the 2 mil or die, and I almost always have success. Mind you I dont ask for credits I can't use either, I'm after cargo.
My trader, also stops and listens to what the pirate says usually, unless they pull the 2 mil or die bit, at that point you lose all respect.
Yup ... A pirate saying "2 mil or die" is the same as a trader saying "I'd rather die than pay." Its laziness. And so is the whole KoS concept. KoS basically skips role play dialogue so they can go straight to fighting.
