HISTORIA

The Potentia Meridianam, the ‘strength’ or ‘power of the south’, was founded in 777 A.S. as a highly structured Corsair fleet with a strong emphasis on discipline, to act as an organized strike force against specific military objectives.

Originally formed to fight the Core and Outcasts in the eastern Omicrons, the fleet was relocated to Omicron Gamma after the defeat at Yaren in Omicron Delta and the abandonment of expansionism in the eastern Omicrons by the Corsair Empire. On home territory, the fleet served as a defense garrison against Red Hessian raids that were common in the early 810s A.S., though by the time of the Potentia’s reassignment, these had become scarce.

The annexation of Gran Canaria by the Kingdom of Bretonia marked an unprecedented expansion of one of the Empire’s primary enemies into what they considered their sphere of influence, and plans were laid down to mobilize the Potentia Medridianam, with the objective of reconquering the free world of Gran Canaria and stopping the rising influence of Bretonia in the southern Omegas.
The Bretonians' claim and eventual conquest of Aland only reinforced the urgency of putting an end to the Kingdom's expansionist plans in the region, as they now possessed a military shipyard in an Omega system, something the Empire saw as an unacceptable advance towards their home territory.

When peace was signed between the Gallic and Bretonian states, the counterattack had yet to materialize, but it was clear that waiting for the war-ravaged house to recover was not an option. The fleet had established their logistics, evaluated potential interference by the Empire’s other enemies, laid out strategies for each enemy system, and readied themselves to strike.
