The Commander, having not yet properly introduced himself simply nods at her assertion, he forces a smile if only out of politeness for the fact that Claire is truly who she says she is, and that much he already knows for certain. He makes a gesture to the Marine beside him, who then walks back around the table to cautiously remove the restraints that bind the protesting noble. Once the Marine has done so, he backs off a little and then defaults to his post behind the Commander.

"My Duchess, I have nothing but respect for you. My family, more specifically my father and I were incredibly devoted to the Crown. A dedication so concrete that they dubbed my father the Warden of Orleannais. A title that now transfers to me by way of inheritance, to which I no doubt owe to your accomplices that deemed killing him prudent." There was a pause, not for contemplation but merely to allow the sudden burst of rapid gunfire in the background to pronounce itself and then cease, it was only one series of weapons, suggesting the Marines had slaughtered the people Claire came with.

"I just have one question, Duchess. Did you have anything to do with it?" This by no means seemed like an inconsequential question, considering the fact that it was preceded by murder not even a few seconds prior, but yet all the same this Commander seemed to regard Claire with a degree of hesitation, as if he wanted for her to have not been involved. But truth could be such a fickle thing.
