I think there are some more fundamental issues in regards to player bases that need addressing before platforms are, regarding their hit points and repair rates, and the general mechanics of sieging.

Make them not fire at anything regardless of IFF or defence setting until the PoB takes some sort of significant amount of damage.

By significant amount of damage I don't mean stray fighter shots aimed at a hugging opponent.

This is a good idea though.
