I gave this some thought at work today, and while our input here may not make any difference in where Igiss sends things, I think that it can be interesting to see what people think is or might possibly be happening.

The Core, at this point in time, probably has more resources available than the Order actually does. In our RP, we're actually trying to exploit and utilize Nomad technology, so that we can use captured and reverse engineered weapons on our ships. There's big money in that, after all.

At the same time, there are too many distractions in Sirius for the Order to get the same full amount of support that they had in the past. Previously the Nomads were attempting to control governments and their puppets, and it effectively was one house (with Nomad backing, of course) against everyone. Now the houses themselves have degenerated into war, and while this is going on, it's going to provide a distraction from the big, bad alien menace. While three houses may cooperate - the diplomatic ties are going to be strained due to the way the houses are in conflict.

In addition, with Gallia thrown into the mess as well, whose to say that the Nomads haven't already infested THEIR government? And the only reason for the gate lockdown there is to prevent that discovery by the 'normal' humans in Sirius until the time is right.

One mistake I think most people are making is in confusing the Guild with the Core. The Guild is all the regular hunters in Sirius, has bases in the houses, and is the main public face of bounty hunters everywhere. The Core is (as we're RP'ing it) a quasi-religious organization, with some similarities to the old Knights Templar. They are very military minded. They have a 'go-to-hell' kind of approach to combat, as evidenced by the way their ships fire. The Core doesn't worship Nomad Technology so much as want to exploit it so that they can have control of it for themselves, so that they can become stronger and more of a force.

After all, if you're the force behind the throne, then who cares who actually sits on the throne?

The main thrust of the Core is in Delta, with bases also in 56 and 15. Dabadoru is supposedly secret, and should be stronger than it is. Regular Core cap ships ... aren't really concerned about Corsairs. They want to defeat the Order, to capture their system if possible, to become one step closer gaining both access to, and control of, the Nomad technology.

What I see as a vision is something like this: The Core has more resources now than the Order alone. At the same time, an ally of the Order, the Corsairs, is seeing an opening in Bretonia, and may attempt to move on them there, diverting assistance that would normally go to the Order. In addition, the Zoners and their neutrality / assistance are also being stretched due to the joys of dealing with house spaces at war. Throw in that Liberty can deal with one threat OR the other, and may not be able to deal with both at the same time, and I could see Liberty trying to cut a deal with the Order IF Rhienland ends up starting to win that war. (We'll not consider you terrorists, but ... you're going to defend Alaska, and we can't help you out in Minor, so you're on your own out there.)

The net result is that probably the Core can take Minor away from the Order - BUT - at the same time, there are going to be increased Nomad raids into Liberty. The question then comes - which way do the Nomads go? Are they going to come back into Kappa and then Gamma? That is a strain on their economy that the Corsairs don't need.

I'd like to see a larger Dabadoru - it should be somewhat larger than it is now, and more able to defend itself. APM is working on that (or should be, anyway).
