Long-range scanners aboard Her Majesty's Ship MacDuff have recorded intermittent communications in the far beta or alpha sectors of Tau-31. Local military officials have dispatched a small number of dedicated search parties to find the source, but little news of their success or failure has found its way from Planet Harris. In the meantime, rumors among civilians have started to run rampant interpreting the garbled transmissions as breadcrumbs for hidden military exercises or worse. Aboard Holman, an enterprising young cryptology hobbyist now believes the transmission is a distorted S.O.S. and has called for independent searches to begin.
