Question about gun and turret stats.

Hello, I know this is not a really serious matter for someone, but as a returning player I forgot all about the weapon stats which are good for faster firing rate, damage and so on. I get the Hull damage and Shield damage turrets and guns but I am curious about the other stats, it's like buying the best possible damage, but having a very slow and power consuming guns and turret, is there a way to pay attention on something else other than the damage ?
