PoBs are already a nightmare to deal with when theyre at low health with a shield and a couple of platforms. this would just end up with a bunch of full health core 1's sitting on holes, gates, planets, you name it, since you dont need to go through the pain of supplying them to repair them

I don't think that's the case. New bases can get taken out rather quickly. Bases set up at jumpholes will be there long enough before getting WP's online to be given a fair fight first. So yeah I'm not scared by more Core 1's popping up at jumpholes or gates or moons or planets because its a dead game otherwise. We need to stop worry about incovenience as players and realize its suppressing activity. Besides, I probably would help resupply some bases if players started showing up more to try staking out territory. But I see new bases barely able to get to a shield or one WP before being stomped, and that means that aspect is a bit broken. And I dont think it would effect the POB plugin that much to change the starting HP. Part of the point is that core ones will be easier to set up for border stations, and not be as big a loss when/if taken out (be more disposable). And without being a jerk, core 2's are the bigger threat, so maybe getting to core 2 is what should require more...?

On a separate note, the other thing I'll add that I meant to say earlier is they should also re-balance snubs to remove them from the pvp system to their own 'level'. Draw down fighter/bomber HP to 1500 and similar shield strength, but drop fighter weapons down to vanilla stats (very low dps).

That will take snubs out of cap fights, except for bombers. Snubs would be really weak against caps, and except for large squads, basically be ignored or taken out quickly. That way, caps are needed for sieges, and other caps will basically be the only ships you can go to to deal with other capitals. Bombers could still do the same damage, but be taken out quickly if you get too close. So a squad of bombers could be a danger to a cap if you can get the numbers, or focus on gunboats.

That would also make bomber piracy more dangerous, remove fighter piracy altogether, and make people lean towards using other ships like gunboats and battle transports for piracy. I think that would make the game more interesting, and leave snubs to still have their times and uses without always dominating every battle.

With some luck we can change the game enough to bring players back so we don't have to cut systems or make major layout changes.
