The jab made Damien smirk rather than be offended. As far as leaders went, he was an extremely liberal man. It was probably why he was so popular and had a high chance of being reelected to serve another term as Alliance Commander. It was likely that people saw him to be a good personification of what they hoped Liberty would have been, and could still become.

With an audible hum, Damien considered his next words carefully before speaking. "The long version, curious to see if your ability to recollect outstretches your hairdo." Not only would he appreciate the jab, but he would respond with one of his own, the tone of his voice implying that there was no defensiveness or frustration behind the words but instead a specific sense of respect. After all, there was always a Contender besides the Cobra.
