Attack on Chartres

After spotting the approaching ships, the patrolling civilians pleaded for peace and ceasefire. They were ready to pay the Maquis and Brigands - not understanding why they would go after insignificant people like them - near Chartres Space Colony that houses many peaceful families no less. To no avail. They were assaulted brutally and mercilessly - it looked as if the raiders didn't want to just shoot them down or rob them, they wanted to make a statement. The civilian defenders were joined by Gallic Navy, and did surprisingly well - the skirmish ending in a stalemate.

Unfortunately Pierre Lafayette, proud father and pilot of the EFL mining vessel Defenseur-1 was killed in the encounter in cold blood. Family members were notified.

Assault on Maintenon

Lafayette's death shook the defenders - they have been joined by an operator of Curvoisier in Pierre's stead, and moved to the safer Maintenon Shipyard - a supposed safe haven protected by The Gallic Navy. This ill-fated patrol was not meant to be in peace however, as several days later the brutal raiders returned, not taking any prisoners. The valliant civilians Ark|Elaine with the fresh Curvoisier's pilot tried their best but were eventually wiped out by the Maquis and Brigands raiders.

FALLOUT

The Maquis raiders got what they wanted - information. Unlike Ille De France or even Orkney, these systems don't seem to garrison a large number of directly combat ready Union soldiers with modern technology at their disposal. Although learning that the civilians from EFL and IDF are surprisingly tenacious combatants themselves, The Maquis decide to press on with planning an operation on massive scale designed to acquire the highly compatible formerly Council technology from the Orlanais and Champagne systems. Before attempting to do so they are likely to now create diversions in different parts of Gallia to not make the Union divert too many combat ready forces to the under-defended systems, and throw them off the scent of their plan.
