Campaign preparations

Virginia is standing in small enclosed elevator cabin as it went up. Unlike previous months, she was dressed up in her uniform with unbuttoned longcoat hanging on her shoulders. The only noticeable difference is that she is discreetly supporting herself against cabin's wall as she still felt weak after her lengthy recovery in medical facility on Planet Veracruz.

"Captain on deck!", junior officer said as Virginia Belle left elevator and looked around bridge aboard INS Roanoke.
"At ease.", Virginia immediatelly replied and turned towards her Commander Ben Sheffield, "Commander, I'd like to talk with you in private in CO office.".
"As you wish, ma'am.", he replied and followed her in small office just two doors away from main bridge.

"Insurgency is going to have its last stand, Commander.", Virginia said as she sat down and motioned Ben to do the same, "There will be little time for repairs and replenishment between skirmishes. What's the status of Roanoke, Dahlonega and North Carolina?".
"Roanoke and Dahlonega are fully operational, North Carolina is still awaiting repairs and cruise engine replacement.", Ben replied.
"North Carolina is waiting for major repairs for at least two years for now. She will have to serve as mobile base than proper warship.", Virginia smirked and nodded, "We will need to preserve our manpower as much as possible, Commander. Any ideas?".
"Well, we can relocate our crewmen and officers into class A, B and C compartments and depressurize rest of the ship. We will have to reduce our comforts in order to preserve our resources as much as possible. It will be tough, but I think our crew can make it without many issues.".
"Unusual circumstances require unusual solutions - or desperate circumstances and solutions?", she asked rhetorical question and immediately continued, "We will see, but depressurized compartments will do as additional protection against fire hazards, shockwaves and sudden decompressions... good plan, Commander. Make it so."
"Right away.", Ben stood up from his chair and made his way towards exit door before he turned around and looked at her and clearly noticed her exhaustion and weakness, "Are you alright, Captain?".
"Yes, I am, Commander. My recovery won't be interfering with any of my duties.", Virginia answered his question and smiled, "Blueshirts will have to get me at my battle post, not in hospital bed.".
"What if they will offer us an amnesty if we lay down our arms?".
"They certainly won't forgive our 'crimes' and I am not going to lay down my arms anyway.".
"Why not?".
"Liberty is the same sh*thole as it ever was, Ben. We can't go back to Houston just like nothing happened.", she replied slowly with traces of suppressed anger in her voice and her XO remained silent - not wanting to argue with her or pondering about her words. After a moment of awkward silence she looked datapad laying on the desk and said with a deep sigh, "But, we must prepare ourselves. Brief crew and officers and abandon non-vital parts of our vessel. Dismissed, Commander.".
