CAPTAINS LOG - Entry #16: Gatekeeping

It has been slightly over a month since the Torment took position in the Kansas system. As I mentioned in my previous log I've had us position ourselves behind Wichita so Liberty vessels have difficulty detecting us until they are practically on top of us. This strategy has proven to be effective as we've been able to get the drop on several patrol vessels up to cruisers so far, with minimal casualties on our end. That said, prior experience has proven that Liberty has a tendency to adapt to our strategies sooner or later. As such I fear we will have to shake things up and leave the relative safety that Wichita provided us.

Unfortunately for us the Kansas system has little in the way of proper hiding spots that also give us a proper vantage point over the Vespucci jump hole. I feel we have little choice but to go into the Arkansas Ice Asteroid Field and stage ambushes from there. With a bit of luck Liberty will eventually think their intel regarding our presence around Wichita is faulty, making it relatively safe to use again. For now I've dispatched a fighter wing to see if they can find a suitably dense part of the field that would be able to hide the Torment. Worst come to worst we'll have to manually move some of the asteroids into position to make appropriate cover.

Meanwhile reports have continued to come in of Insurgency operations obtaining Pyrrhic victories at best in the surrounding systems, there are even rumors that Bretonia is getting involved on behalf of Liberty, though no official communique has arrived yet from headquarters to verify those claims.

If the Insurgency has to fight off two houses in its current state I fear for our future.
