Subject: Encounters with Kusari Naval Forces

25 May 745 A.G.S.

I encountered a Kusari naval vessel in Tau-31. I was expecting to shove a torpedo up his engines, but surprisingly that did not happen. Even with all the threats and insults that he had thrown at me. He even wanted some information about Gallia, so I handed him some of our propaganda material. In the end, he threatened to blow up my ship if I did not cooperate with him. He wanted me to be a source of intelligence for his forces. Right, as if. Didn't seem like there was anything of benefit to us. However, he said he wasn't a "rank and file" officer, and would offer intel in return. So fine, I agreed and we parted ways. See attached logs.

Even more strange, was a Bretonian Armed Forces transport passed by as well. Nothing remarkable came out of that though. Probably could have put a torpedo up its engines had the Kusarian not shown up.

[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Bonjour.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Er, you seem to be quite far from home.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Uh, hello.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: What can I do for you?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Straight back at you, Maquis.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Taking a stroll of course. Is that now illegal in these parts hmm?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: In the middle of Bretonia's busiest junction within the Taus.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: With a bomber craft.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Nothing suspicious about that of course.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Interesting choices of place and vessel for a.. stroll.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: What, are you going to turn me in for taking a stroll now?
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: You don't even work for Bretonia.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: True enough.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: I work for Gallia, and the common people.
CONSOLE: Possible cheating detected: G4|The.Antares
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: These are the people I work for.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: I'm not disregarding your kins activities in Tau-53 however.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Well, it's weird.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Every single criminal group of Sirius claims they do everything for "the well-being of the common people".
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Ouch. Are you calling me criminal? I don't know what sort of problems exist in Kusari, but
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: What makes your statement different from.. say Lane Hackers?
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: the nobility in Gallia is the poison that spreads.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: I'll be honest with you. I don't know much about the Lane Hackers.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: We don't tend to venture too far away from Gallia, even though we're pro-Sirian.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Must be due to your most dubious reputation.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Not sure what's with the insults.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: That's a mere fact, Gaul.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: We work for the common people of Gallia. The nobility control too much power, credits.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Us common folk slave away for what, peanuts?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Gallia is barbaric, I thought that's a conclusion we all came to years ago.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Clearly, not everyone shares your viewpoint.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Look at all the wrecks in Languedoc.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Who are the ones creating casualties here?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: If you shed tears over them, you should reconsider whom they served for.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: The issue of Metz, however, was unfortunate.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Unfortunately indeed. Again, the common folk suffering in the hands of the elite.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: But enough of this. Your stroll isn't exactly a stroll, is it? I somewhat doubt you'll target merchant vessels around here.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: At least, data reports indicate this is more likely to occur.. or rather have occured in Tau-53 when trade with Gallia was-
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: No, of course not officer.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: booming.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Well, we all know the war put that to an end.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Shame the Royalists sided with the union in that war.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: A shame Bretonia failed to do what they were supposed to.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: And that is?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Anyway, why here out of all places? Is Harris such a nice view?
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Again, I happen to be here for a stroll. And somehow, you're here too now.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: You haven't exactly explained how you ended up here either... officer.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: It's rather simple, actually. Even with Crayter's return, Tau-31 remains a patrol zone. Non-standard patrols get send here.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Since we're both here for a stroll, would you like a leaflet? I think it would help you understand the struggles we-
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: we're facing.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Leaflet? Probably a bunch of weird propaganda similar to how the flowers do it at home..
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Well you deal with those er, "flowers". Want a leaflet?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Honestly, why not. At worst, it's utterly useless, at best, an indirect source of intel.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Alright, here you go.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Acquiring internal data of Gallia was never easy afterall.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Maybe it will help you and your superiors understand Gallia a little bit better.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Domo- eh, thanks.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Let me guess.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Your stroll happens to include "accidentally" having leaflets with you. Call it what it is, Gaul. An information -
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: or potential supporter seeking campaign.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Politics are made that way.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Although I believe you have an emperor or something. So maybe not over there.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: In Kusari.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: That's why you chose the Harris junction too. Ample of time before forces from the Macduff might react.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Again, all the suspicion.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Plus it is usually a rather busy crossway since Bretonia increased efforts around Harris.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: I'm just here for a stroll, and you're here now and we've had a nice conversation.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: You'll reach a decent amount of Bretonians this way. Bretonians, who due to their past with Gallia, are more open to -
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: ideas of supporting what.. I'd call "revolutionists rendered terrorists"?
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Again, the insult. Representatives of the common folk really.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Don't act so innocent. I'm not falling for simple excuses. This doesn't mean I'll screw you over for it.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: And... exactly what are you proposing officer?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: It's far from an insult too. It's again stating what Gallia describes your group as.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Oh, bonjour.
Buddly.Salterton: Good day there
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: An Armed Forces merchant vessel. Konbanwa.
Buddly.Salterton: Good day Kusari Naval Forces, what are you doing out here?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Running into this interesting Gaul here.
Buddly.Salterton: Hmm? Anything seem to be the matter?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Trying to figure out why they go "on a stroll" here. Quite interesting, to say the least.
Buddly.Salterton: Well in the Tau systems this is quite disturbing.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: We were having an interesting discussion, involving different viewpoints of course.
Buddly.Salterton: Surely not conducting raids on merchants such as ourselves.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Neglecting you, only this Zoners passed by so far and they made no intentions of utilising violence yet.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Plus, I'm far more interested in their motives as of now. Overall motives. Information on the Maquis is usually acquired -
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: through third-parties.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Label it "first hand experience", if you want.
Buddly.Salterton: Well you will be wise to respect those who frequent this space Gallic.
Buddly.Salterton: Bretonians and Kusarians alike.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Hey Bretonian, would you like a leaflet too?
Buddly.Salterton: I am too busy enjoy my tea to be honest with you.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Apparently, the Kusarian wanted more intel about Gallia, so he happen indulged.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: //Happened to indulge*
Buddly.Salterton: Can't blame them, after all they are all traitors to Sirius.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: That's what I'm trying to say. We're pro-Sirian, and we fight for the common folk.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Even potential propaganda usually contains a grain of truth. I'll just let it get analysed.
Buddly.Salterton: Oh really?
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Not the nobility who sip on wine all day while the rest of us toil.
Buddly.Salterton: Where is your nobility then?
Buddly.Salterton: Show us proof of it.
Buddly.Salterton: There is nothing noble about terrorists seeking to undermine Bretonian and Kusarian commerce.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: *He laughs* If I am to believe what Yamaguchi's last man standing claims, we killed their former king already.
Buddly.Salterton: The raid surely gave them something to think about.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: I don't care for the royals. They betrayed us during the war.
Buddly.Salterton: Well atleast something we agree on.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Hmmh.
Buddly.Salterton: But that does not explain your presence here.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Taking a stroll, and apparently handing out leaflets.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Do I have to explain myself all over again?
Buddly.Salterton: Only when i command it.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: This is getting tiring.
Buddly.Salterton: And you will show more respect in this shared space.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Excuse me? This Kusarian officer had better manners than you do.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Right. Gaul.
Buddly.Salterton: Then i suggest you go on your way.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Very well then. I need to replenish my flyers anyway.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Say, you wouldn't mind being a source of intel, hai?
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Good day.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: What was that?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: It's simple.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: There's two procedures, usually.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: First, you'll give us a view on Gallia from the Maquis point of view, so we can analyse it.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Second, I'll shoot your vessel down, pick up that cargo pod and we go on an interrogation trip.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Choice is all yours.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Wow, so after our pleasant conversation, you're threatening me?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Command would probably prefer option two, though I feel like the alternative suits the circumstances better today.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: I'm laying out how it is, Gaul. Call me cold or whatever.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: What is in it for the Front? Or is there nothing?
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: This could reach from an exchange of intel - perhaps on a common foe - to things I'm not authorized to do anyways.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: I mean, what is it for you? A more thorough leaflet and a potential gain. See it as a gamble.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: I'm not exactly just a rank and file 'officer' but I can't make any large promises either.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Interesting proposal. The Front could always do with more intel about Sirius, including Kusari.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: If there is an exchange of information and the Front can benefit from this, then I accept.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Relay this to the relevant people then, I'll do so myself.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: It better not be one-sided. Otherwise, it will end up being blown up with a nova torpedo.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Very well.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Hmh. This depends on your side, I suppose.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Regardless, go replenish this leaflets.. I guess.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Right.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: I'll get lost too before I contemplate angering Bretonians.

27 May 745 A.G.S.

There really wasn't much intel that the Kusarian could provide that we did not know already. We work with the Dragons and they already provide a substantial amount of information. This "not a rank and file officer" would be more valuable in an escape pod and we could offer him to the Dragons. They can torture him or exchange him or whatever they do. I set up a meeting with this Kusarian naval officer. We were originally going to meet in Tau-23 but some sniffers showed up and messed everything up - as usual. We ended up meeting in Tau-29. Brought Hunter along too so we can easily capture him. Turns out this Kusarian wasn't as stupid as I thought - he brought backup as well. This fight ended well - kind of. I managed to blow up my own ship but Hunter dispatched both of them and reeled everyone in. Excellent! Now we have two Kusarian naval officers to send to the Dragons. I'm sure they would be pleased and this would strengthen our alliance.

Some sniffers showed up during the fight. I didn't pay too much attention to them, but Hunter may have more to say about that.

[+]Spoiler
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Bonjour. I see we have received each other's messages.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Unfortunate circumstances. Didn't expect Outcast warships to mess up the original RV.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Well, you've arrived.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Understandable. You came alone oui? My scanners are a little messed up, but I thought I saw something.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Probably one of Shinkaku's patrols. Samura.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: They won't respond. They aren't keen on going that far in.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Okay right, that makes sense I suppose. As long as they do not interfere.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: You've mentioned a datapad about Gallia, including potential intel on their Navy, hai?
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Yes, so there's a bit of a change of plans about that.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Hm.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: I'm listening.
[FLG]Tireur.d'Elite: Bonjour!
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: You see....
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: That's.. a second vesel.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: I... or we, figured your escape pod is more valuable to us.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Sure. It smelled like a trap.
[FLG]Tireur.d'Elite: Michael! Are we going to do this?
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: I'm sure the dragons would pay handsomely for you.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: But this is a trap, indeed.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Oh yes. Let's get this guy.
[FLG]Tireur.d'Elite: It seems that he was prepared.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Oh damn.
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: Ronin, actual. Two vessels. Let's pulverize them.
[FLG]Tireur.d'Elite: Another Kusarian!
[KNF]'Ronin',|66th: Copy.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: They definitely were prepared.
[FLG]Tireur.d'Elite: They're not that dumb it seems.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Powering weapons.
[FLG]Tireur.d'Elite: Priming weapons.
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Seems so.
[KNF]'Ronin',|66th: Bombs away!
[KNF]Tsubaki|KNI: You'll go down.
[FLG]Tireur.d'Elite: Get him!
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Die now.
HS>MNS-Palencia: Santiago: Well what have we here *sniff*
MNS-Borea: *sniff*
MNS-Borea: Their remains will be valuable to Malta! *sniff*
Death: [KNF]'Ronin',|66th suffered a self-administered loadout error (Missile/Torpedo).
[FLG]Tireur.d'Elite: one down!
[FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L]: Ow
Death: [FLG]Michael.Jacobin[L] suffered a self-administered loadout error (Mine).
Death: [KNF]Tsubaki|KNI was put out of action by [FLG]Tireur.d'Elite (Gun).
