The Directorate

Mister Secretary:

I am certain you are more familiar with speaking to the previous Director, however, after some internal reshuffling, that responsibility now falls to me. The utilization of this position to ensure the security of our beloved Republic is my first, foremost, and only priority, and as such, I expect we will be communicating often, and at length.

I've long heard rumblings regarding Government involvement with foreign agencies such as The Order. My own sources rather rapidly convinced me that such was the case, and now, as certain communications have come to light, it is past time to voice my concerns.

These are not people that can be trusted, Mister Secretary. There is ample evidence to prove such a thing, stretching back many, many years. Need I remind you that the Battleships operated by The Order and their ilk, the Corsairs, and even the Insurgency, are based upon stolen technology? Technology that, even now, has yet to show even the slightest inkling of returning to Security Force custody.

Before you claim "the loss of this equipment is solely the responsibility of the Security Force", I would like to remind you of certain happenings. It was the responsibility of the Navy to ensure Operation: Royal Flush did not result in the loss of hundreds of ships and thousands of lives. It was the responsibility of the Government of the Republic of Liberty to create an environment that was not conducive to the production of traitors, and it is the responsibility of the Liberty Police to, ahem, actually police. We are all culpable for certain sins.

The Security Force has long attempted to regain our lost people, equipment, and paraphernalia, and now, because of minor fears regarding the Nomads in Kepler, you have decided to increase the risk of lost materiel and personnel even further? This fails to even address the colossal opportunity now granted to The Order to more thoroughly ascertain our military capabilities, capabilities that are strained as a result of the final assault on Vespucci. Are you quite certain that permitting a known terrorist group into the most secure areas of the Republic, space that is now on their veritable doorstep, even edges towards a good idea?

As far as I am aware, Mister Secretary, the Nomad threat has been largely curtailed by Security Force operations throughout the Republic. Those outbreaks that were not nipped in the proverbial bud were, shortly after, demolished by an overwhelming display of force and prowess by the combined firepower of the Armed Forces of the Republic.

I had assumed it went without saying, but inviting rats into your home solely to help clean up garbage is not a winning proposition.

O. Anoke
Director, Liberty Security Force
