They don't care about the character details, its just an excuse to put pressure on you and as a uncontrolled party. You can always do what I did for years...just go pirate.
Thank you for the comment - It's quite all right, I am used to it and can take it - there are groups that naturally flock together and have different approaches to the game.
This stuff aside, we just did our thing and have had fun in-game so far, none of this stuff can really affect you in-game unless you want it to. And turns out the dismissal business was also an unintended thing that could have been resolved with sucking it up and communicating openly from my side - that is my bad and is being resolved. It is not good to expect and project the worst on people, but it's human nature, all we can do is try to inject awareness and expect the positive. Which is something very hard to do in an environment used as an escape from the real world and when tired in the first place :]
