CAPTAINS LOG - Entry #31: A deal with the devil
Date: August 6th, 829 A.S.

Negotiating with the Corsairs proved to be an interesting experience to say the least.
They more or less mandated what was going to happen in return for the repairs and safe passage, however the terms were far from unreasonable.
Probably suspiciously so even; in return they want the Torments engineers to look at the engines of one of their capital vessels engines.
They hope that our knowledge of Libertonian tech will enable us to increase the fuel efficiency of the engines.

However the Corsairs have quite a reputation, probably not entirely undeserved, as such I find myself hesitant to take their word at face value without any safeguards in place.
I ordered the senior staff to place explosives in key locations throughout the ship;
should the Corsairs try anything when we moor with the station we'll be able to take them down with us, or at least deal out a considerable punch.

With negotiations handled we finally set course to leave this accursed, asteroid riddled system, and headed somewhere more open.
It was quite a relief when the jump hole to the Corsair homeworld finally came into view.
I believe Matteo referred to it as the Sparta system.

Once we arrived at the shipyard we were treated to our first glance of the 'Murmillo' class vessel the Corsairs want our Engineers to work on.
Turns out that, according to Matteo, the original design was made by the Liberty Navy and was given to the Corsairs by the Order.
The Insurgency supposedly had dealings with the Order as well, though I can't say I've ever seen one. Mysterious fellows.

While the Corsairs have made significant changes to the design, the crew can at least take comfort in the knowledge that the ship is of Libertonian origin.
This simple fact alone already significantly improves our odds of being able to tweak their engines as agreed.
Especially since what Libertonian tech remains on the ship is almost three decades old.

We might just make it out of this yet.
