It's more out of necessity. The group needs to be able to operate in liberty, because that's where they were created - of the criminal factions in sirius, I had the choice between:
a) xenos
b) Outcast-alliance (hackers, outcasts, rogues, etc.)
c) Corsair-alliance (which cant operate in liberty)

Xenos also didnt have access to the ship types I was focusing on when I thought this up (raven's claw and slipstream, more for appearances than anything) - because they're used by straight up enemies of the xenos.

I dont have to say the outcasts trust us, but they dont have to - we keep out of their business and they keep out of ours.
