What it could have been an uninteresting journey through the dangerous Omicrons, it escalated to an ominous but extravagant encounter that left more questions than answers.

As we got close to the Omicron Kappa jump hole, in Omicron Delta system; our sensors detected a single contact in the Tokelau Ice Cloud: Caliban. Before I could even try to interrogate the intentions of the pilot, we picked up several contacts circling around a single and shiny phenomenon; an anomaly in which light was emitted throughout the cloud but holding a gravitational field that could diminish our propulsion systems according to certain proximity.

An odd gathering was taking place at that moment. Additional to Caliban, there were a Technocracy of Auxo vessel, Starstream and Maltese brethren: a Maltese Acquisition capital vessel, the Hyperion and a couple of independent ones: Malta’s Spirit and Tomas Garcia. A Core-APM vessel, WV-Eden, joined us afterwards. At last, but not least, one additional particular ship of this reunion was the gunboat RV-Pennybrooke, who was later accompanied by a nomad specimen identified only as K'Halaesh. It is worth noticing that in no moment there was no confrontation at all, as everyone, including me, were more invested on the anomaly; even the nomad maintained a tranquil stance, even if its predisposition was a hostile one.

Initial Encounter

I was assisted by El Cid during the scientific data procurement, as all sides discussed about the origins and purpose of the unknown stellar object. Afterwards, we concluded that an empiric test was required in other to understand the phenomenon that seemed harmless on first glance. As each one of our vessels got riskily close to the light, each one made a “jump” nearby. To be more precise, each ship was translocated instantly to a different area of the system; all of us made a travel back to the initial point. In our case, my vessel almost stumbled across planet Tuvalu; an event that could have been lethal if we would have not reacted quickly. A second try was made and those who jumped to it, returned from...Omicron Nu.

While most of our brethren felt no need to stay longer, my crew and I stayed a bit longer; not before the pilot of the Pennybrooke told us about her closeness with the nomad entity that was nearby her. She mentioned the appearance of a hybrid vessel, the ship LNS-Tundra and its crew that enlighten her to a path where she considered that “humanity cannot manage itself”. Before we could go deeper on her background, the Core vessel Eden appeared and the Pennybrooke vanished.

Nomad Story

Another conversation erupted, as a newcomer arrived, the Auxo vessel Eidolon Wrath; presumably called by the Starstream to make a further analysis on the unknown at hand. Unexpectedly enough, Core and Auxo captains seemed to knew each other. An extended history involving betrayal and resolve was in front of me, as both sides showed their own reasons to hold mutual grudges. Auxo captain justified her actions; meanwhile the Core captain, allegedly disappointed by the current route of his organization, manifested his loyalty towards what he represents.

As I contemplated the situation, the remaining ships decided to make their own studies and travelled to the spatial rift…

They did not return.

Moreover, Pennybrooke returned and traversed it; an identical outcome occurred. I decided to do the same, but we remained in the same position: It was inert for us. As our unworthiness to the stellar object was evident, we decided to pull back and return for a deeper analysis on the matter.

Our scientists will be quite busy these days, as the fissure presents similar configuration to the jump holes but its size and diverse final destinations could be raising concerns on what this object could really entail.
