Guten Abend Officers,
i met Frau Lea Kaufman today in Cologne.
She had a few questions for me and seeing as i usually get along well with this fellow Rheinlander, i did provide her with answers. As it turned out there may be a bit more behind those questions than mere curiosity as i initially assumed.
Frau Kaufman apparently doubts the trustworthiness of His Imperial Majesty the Kaiser's armored fist - us. She began by inquiring about how the Rheinwehr views the Bundschuh, referring to earlier incidents that were reported already. During our conversation the topic shifted more to specific actions taken by members of the Rheinwehr and how these are connected to the previously stated concern of hers. I found these answers to be less than satisfying and presume them to be but a distraction, yet kept this mostly to myself.
Attached you find the entire recording. Leutnant Schmidt appeared for a short moment, asking for my permission to enter Zurich - which i granted.
[18.12.2022 00:31:56] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Mh-... oh, Frau Kaufman. Guten Abend.
[18.12.2022 00:32:18] Lea.Kaufman: Guten abend.
[18.12.2022 00:33:03] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: What brings you to Cologne, if i may ask?
[18.12.2022 00:34:03] Lea.Kaufman: I simply rested here for a day.
[18.12.2022 00:34:44] Lea.Kaufman: Also, yesterday or it was two days ago, I saw a military bomber being suicidal.
[18.12.2022 00:34:55] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Mh-mhm. Busy days since last we m-....et?
[18.12.2022 00:35:23] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: A military bomber being suicidal?
[18.12.2022 00:35:54] Lea.Kaufman: He was engaging a civil in an asteorid field and what I feared happened. Launching torpedoes in such place is dangerous.
[18.12.2022 00:36:45] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: ... confusing to say the least. Asteroid fields are dangerous as is already. Firing ordnance in there begs for ... well, that.
[18.12.2022 00:36:58] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Did you happen to witness why that civilian was being engaged?
[18.12.2022 00:37:21] Lea.Kaufman: It was Jukins, Charlie Jukins.
[18.12.2022 00:37:47] Lea.Kaufman: Well, he had some weird weapons so... I guess it was because of that.
[18.12.2022 00:38:12] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: ... *Scoffs* Of course, Jukins. Why did i even assume he'd be wise and heeded my initial warnings. Was he still operating
[18.12.2022 00:38:19] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: that no-... ... alright, he was. Mh-mhm.
[18.12.2022 00:38:48] Lea.Kaufman: Another thing.
[18.12.2022 00:38:50] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: And let me guess, he was not in favor of being escorted out for dismounting said questionable tech?
[18.12.2022 00:38:57] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Oh, more?
[18.12.2022 00:40:18] Lea.Kaufman: Ja. I once 'patrolled' with a military. I think it was Beist? Once in the middle of the way between planet New Berlin and Essen
[18.12.2022 00:41:11] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: We have someone with that name, ja. So the Aachenfeld? Or more along the lanes?
[18.12.2022 00:42:03] Lea.Kaufman: , we saw a MND agent taking care of a Bundschuh. By taking care I mean doing their job, Beist simply interrupted the agent.
[18.12.2022 00:43:09] [RM]Lt.Jurgen.Schmidt: Am I interrupting something?
[18.12.2022 00:43:26] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Peculiar... so an MND agent was doing their duty, and they were interrupted in doing so? Do go on, how did this proceed?
[18.12.2022 00:43:35] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Nein, you do not Leutnant. Guten Abend.
[18.12.2022 00:44:18] Lea.Kaufman: Well, it ended up that a lot of military came after and then hessians.
[18.12.2022 00:44:24] Lea.Kaufman: So... it was messy.
[18.12.2022 00:44:51] Lea.Kaufman: And... Jukins was there too.
[18.12.2022 00:45:14] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Seldomly a boring day in the heart of Rheinland. Ah - he was there as well? He must like it within our House...
[18.12.2022 00:45:19] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Shame he does not play by the rules.
[18.12.2022 00:45:53] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Did Jukins pick sides in what i presume was a fight that ensued sooner or later?
[18.12.2022 00:46:39] Lea.Kaufman: The hessians came after some minutes after Beist engaged Jukins.
[18.12.2022 00:47:29] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Ah, so he was already being fired upon. Lucky for him, that'll keep the charges not particularly low - but also not
[18.12.2022 00:47:37] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: unfathomably higher than they have to be.
[18.12.2022 00:48:10] Lea.Kaufman: I need to ask.
[18.12.2022 00:48:26] Lea.Kaufman: How the military sees the Bundschuh?
[18.12.2022 00:48:57] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: *Traudel tilts her head slightly* How do you view the Bundschuh, Frau Kaufman...?
[18.12.2022 00:49:42] [RM]Lt.Jurgen.Schmidt: Not to interrupt but...
[18.12.2022 00:49:52] [RM]Lt.Jurgen.Schmidt: I came here to ask of your permission.
[18.12.2022 00:50:12] [RM]Lt.Jurgen.Schmidt: To visit the Zurich system, I am unclear wether we are able to visit it or not...
[18.12.2022 00:50:26] [RM]Lt.Jurgen.Schmidt: Due to the high amount of Gallics and Unioners
[18.12.2022 00:51:04] Lea.Kaufman: Sorry but that's rude.
[18.12.2022 00:51:21] [RM]Lt.Jurgen.Schmidt: My apologies then. Habermeyer?
[18.12.2022 00:52:03] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Define ... Gallics, Schmidt. We have no quarrel with Gallia. The Unioners there however - they are an issue, among others.
[18.12.2022 00:52:36] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: We are permitted to patrol there, so yes - granted. You may go. Any reports are to be submitted as usual.
[18.12.2022 00:52:45] [RM]Lt.Jurgen.Schmidt: Danke. I will be on my way then
[18.12.2022 00:53:05] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Certainly. Now then...?
[18.12.2022 00:53:54] Lea.Kaufman: So how do I see the Bundschuhs? Well, they didn't do anything on me so I suppose I consider them neutral.
[18.12.2022 00:55:02] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Which is well within your rights. They have been pardoned in the past. Political activists, mostly. Not all, of course. Can't
[18.12.2022 00:55:05] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: generalize all too much.
[18.12.2022 00:55:23] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Let's say they do overstep ... then naturally there will be ramifications.
[18.12.2022 00:56:20] Lea.Kaufman: Alright and how about if one just talks with someone and then, a military jumps on the opportunity to open fire?
[18.12.2022 00:57:35] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: What an oddly specific question. In that case there must be more to it.
[18.12.2022 00:58:17] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Ever so busy these Samura... mhm. Anyway.
[18.12.2022 00:58:29] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Any ... more details for me on that question?
[18.12.2022 00:59:06] Lea.Kaufman: Well, the reason why I asked this is because Beist was about to engage the Bundschuh while the MND was doing his job.
[18.12.2022 00:59:41] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Just ... like that? Out of the blue?
[18.12.2022 01:00:42] Lea.Kaufman: Mhm. The MND told him that he was dealing with the Bundschuh already and I even told him the same thing.
[18.12.2022 01:00:49] Lea.Kaufman: But it was as if he was blind.
[18.12.2022 01:01:29] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: *Smacks her lips* Mh-mhm. What an unfortunate development then. Be assured, things like these always involve an investigation
[18.12.2022 01:01:31] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: into the matter.
[18.12.2022 01:02:06] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: It may as well already be in effect as we speak.
[18.12.2022 01:02:13] Lea.Kaufman: His behavior made me wonder if the military is trustwhorty.
[18.12.2022 01:03:16] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: *Blinks* ... excuse... me? You may want to rethink this line of thought carefully. For one, it may border on problematic
[18.12.2022 01:03:54] Lea.Kaufman: You heard me.
[18.12.2022 01:03:56] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: statements just one system over. And more importantly... the actions of one soldier seldomly represent the entirety of the part
[18.12.2022 01:03:58] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: he belongs to.
[18.12.2022 01:04:05] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Oh, i heard you loud and clear Frau Kaufman.
[18.12.2022 01:04:08] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: And i do hope you heard me as well.
[18.12.2022 01:06:06] Lea.Kaufman: I did. But still, as a Rheinlander, it makes me a bit confused that kind of actions. Daring to say something else than what a
[18.12.2022 01:06:24] Lea.Kaufman: MND agent said, to me it's big.
[18.12.2022 01:07:02] Lea.Kaufman: Too big to tell myself 'It's normal'.
[18.12.2022 01:07:10] Lea.Kaufman: // to say*
[18.12.2022 01:09:18] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: I am almost tempted to say 'spoken like a Federalist' ... but let us not stray there. Instead let us attempt to find a more
[18.12.2022 01:09:26] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: logical conclusion to what has you wondering this much.
[18.12.2022 01:09:58] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: It is ... more natural to you to question the entirety of the Kaiser's Rheinwehr ... than ... assume one soldier
[18.12.2022 01:10:04] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: potentially stepped out of line?
[18.12.2022 01:10:06] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: How's that?
[18.12.2022 01:11:27] Lea.Kaufman: Well, nein. But with that military who shot torpedoes within an asteorid field pushed me to think that.
[18.12.2022 01:13:42] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: So a whopping two isolated incidents managed that...? *Doubtful* One of them being a purely tactical decision, which may have
[18.12.2022 01:13:55] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: been off. What has that one to do with trustworthiness...?
[18.12.2022 01:15:35] Lea.Kaufman: Well, it's simple. When he was shooting his torpedoes, I was close enough to be blown too.
[18.12.2022 01:17:05] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: ... which naturally begs the question as to 'why' you were that close to a target. Who was this target again you said?
[18.12.2022 01:17:31] Lea.Kaufman: Jukins.
[18.12.2022 01:18:16] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Poor choice of company. Especially with apparently having seen and knowing about the weaponry he operates.
[18.12.2022 01:18:59] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: I am not saying i condone endangering potential bystanders... yet at the same time i urge potential bystanders to mind their
[18.12.2022 01:19:02] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: surroundings.
[18.12.2022 01:21:26] Lea.Kaufman: Whatever.
[18.12.2022 01:23:40] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Hum. How easily this topic is dropped, yet it started as an apparent pressing matter. Very well then, as you said. 'Whatever'.
[18.12.2022 01:30:59] Lea.Kaufman: Time to leave. Got a call.
[18.12.2022 01:31:13] [RM]Obl-Trau.Habermeyer: Do take care...
Für den Kaiser! Für das Volk! Für Rheinland!
Hochachtungsvoll,
Traudel Habermeyer
