The only important reason that needs to exist for Bretonia and Liberty to look angrily at each other is the fact that they're both Houses. So long as Houses exist, they'll try to cut down each others' influence, regardless of existing player alliances. Second to that, the story team has also chosen a path of following exactly this kind of roleplay just as much, which I've used to justify why we need to cooperate with them rather than go against what they say. It isn't lobbying nor does there exist some secret cult in the team that lobbies for Bretonia, it's just us taking the in-game news/rumours and bringing them to the next level.
1. Yes, this is true. But the counterargument is that half a decade (almost) has passed and since then neither House has been fond of one another.
2. (referring to all 3 points) is also correct. This is why, however, you'll see us do roleplay that isn't too hardline nor that is upsetting either house that much. We swap between regions every few months, slowly rebuild, slowly amend treaties so we get more out of them, etc. It's soft power.
3. This I refuse to touch upon because pop numbers are a can of worms I don't want to get anywhere close to. Leeds was important and that's it.
4. Nobody tried to bring down the alliance, only represent the fact that interests are clashing. Disagreeing inRP doesn't immediately mean nuclear armageddon. Neither does shooting, even. The approach to House relations with the "they're my rival" line of thought rather than a "I must nuke them NOW" helps a lot. But I digress.
5. This means nothing when your house is one step away from falling over due to internal rebellions.
6. Correct. And they should be absolutely walking over RM to guarantee Hudson stays theirs. That region is one of the few ones where border clashes should happen regularly.
7. Trade to Liberty has dropped by a significant amount, it's not nearly as important as it used to be. That aside, Liberty cannot produce anything if it can't get anything. Same line of thought.
8. Liberty asked for an entire planet to be given over, something nobody opposed and gladly went along with. But it wasn't Bretonia who broke the treaty. ¯\_(ツ)_/
9. Refer to 6. That, and the fact that Bretonia's only way of surviving is instilling more clashes between other Houses for its own gain, and you'll understand why we did what we did.
Bonus point for the image: if Liberty isn't willing to work with us then that's just more ammo to use against it. Idk, somehow players think that by escalating a situation further you get benefits.
