You used a loophole as a basis for subsequent action. Any actions thus taken must surely be undone. You may however stand by your perfectly reasonable, benevolent, even handed, and thoroughly peaceful resolutions - as countries and politicians often do. But in such a case I really wouldn't be surprised if you were to face further and more stringent consequence.
