INS-Torment

CAPTAINS LOG - Entry #42, 43, 44 & 45: The interview, vote, journey and arrival.
Date: January & February, 830 A.S.

A lot has happened this last month, in order to save time I’ll be entering my logs simultaneously, hopefully this will free up some extra time down the line.
Lets see, the last entry was just before I visited the Freeport so lets start from there.

Suffice to say that negotiations at the Freeport were significantly different than expected. It turns out the Corsairs set up a meeting with a representative of the Order. Of course she didn’t reveal that at first, but still it was quite the surprise; in all our time with the Corsairs to date I have yet to hear them talk about the Order even once.

The representative introduced herself as ‘Val’, a Freelancer who had been hired to conduct the interview, among other things.

Unfortunately Val insisted we talk about the Torments history, including myself and the rest of its crew.

After a long history lesson she seemed convinced enough that we weren’t some band of wild raiders, hellbent on the destruction of whoever’s path we crossed. Which meant she was finally ready to talk business, to a degree.

It was at this point she revealed herself as representing the Order, handed me a shard with information about how to contact them properly and offered to answer any questions I might have for her.

I took the opportunity to gain some insight into their motivations for helping us, as well as if they were even able to do so. Last but not least I asked to know what they wanted in return.

This last question proved particularly important; they wanted us to sign up with the Order.

I made it perfectly clear this was too big a decision for me to make without seeing their operations for myself and, while I did not mention it to her, I had no intention of making such a decision without conferring with my senior staff.

We said our goodbyes and I returned to the Torment.

The next day I called together my senior staff and presented them with the choice we faced, as well as the pro’s and cons, so we could discuss the matter and come to a decision. In the end out of a total of six votes, four voted in favor, two against. With the decision made I reached out to the Order to set things in motion.

And who would answer the transmission on their end but Val, I’m fairly sure she’s not a Freelancer at all but an Order agent proper, but I’ll keep my speculations to myself. We arranged the rendezvous and an escort deeper into the Omicrons. The Corsairs who had been our, sometimes disgruntled, hosts provided an escort a well to make sure we ‘left their space safely’. I’d like to think they wanted to make sure we didn’t cause any troubles, seems like what they’d expect other Corsairs to do in our situation after all heh.

The escort went with minimal issues, other than the mysterious systems that we passed through on our way to Order space. I suppose there’s a certain charm to flying through what is essentially uncharted space.

I wont describe the journey we made in detail, just incase someone ever gets their hands on this log and tries to use it to find Order space through it. Though I’ll give this one hint: If you run into a giant minefield that puts Liberty’s area-51 to shame, you probably want to turn back.

Eventually we arrived at a sizeable shipyard deep in Order space called Fort Carthage, though I must confess I had my reservations if it would actually be able to accommodate the Torment. In the end my concerns were partly correct; the Torment had to tilt 90 degrease in order to actually fit in the drydock, but at least we could board the station and start talking about the repairs that were needed.

Captain Lucian Perez,
Signing off.
