The Following Morning
Doc was an early riser. At his escape, he had to be as he took care of his horses and would often be in his canoe before sun up catching the day's meal. He often followed that up with a morning swim. The lake was clean and as it was his, he kept it that way. Also each morning, he took a knee before the small grave of his grandson. Beyond that, it was a subject never discussed. He did all this quietly on this day as he didn't want to wake Sonja. To keep Niki quiet, he placed some warm milk down for her.
His catch of the day was quickly cleaned and put in the smoke house as the sun rose. The smell of fresh coffee brewing filled the cabin as did the scent of eggs and a side of bacon cooking for morning meal. Still asleep, he let Sonja be as he took a mug of coffee onto his porch to think.
Sure, they were safe here but they couldn't hide forever. Something had to be done. Sonja was dead to the universe and he needed to keep it that way. Sonja could no longer be publicly seen. That for Doc was the hard part. Creating new base scans? That was easy. A fresh scan would never reveal Admete so no one would know the difference. It would be today's discussion with his good friend and colleague.
