RP is the ability to force your own imagination to work for you.

To, by choice, ignore the very concept that there is another player behind the character you encounter. That a ''bad'' encounter is not the result of another player's actions against you, but rather the ability to force yourself to imagine that the result is because of an unreasonable, unpredictable choice on the behalf of the character yours encountered.

RP in a nutshell is the ability to remove the feeling of RL from the equation. Ignore the forums, ignore any drop of anything OOC when you are in the game. The moment you stop overthinking it all and why did X character or Y group do Z and how did the player behind them benefit from doing so, you will find your overall enjoyment of the RP environment increase. Other people will weaponize RP. They will RP for the sake of a goal, be it another line for their ID or something equally as ''tangible'' as they need to feel that their time spent ingame is not ''pissing in the rain'', given that most of them have jobs and a family now. They cannot afford to ''waste time''. They cannot afford to ''rp for the sake of rp'' or to ''lose'' at RP.

The most important part is to selectively ignore those things about the roleplay method. To find what aspects of RP or the people you RP with annoy you the most and ignore them. Do not expect anyone else to change their ways, that is not how a normal human being works, but rather do enough mental gymnastics until you feel comfortable enough to play the game in a way that you enjoy.
