A New Life for the Broken Bird

Doc was rather amused. Never in his life did he ever figure to be drinking coffee with a nomad but he didn't feel threatened nor did he feel uncomfortable. There was a smile on his face.
"Marshmallows in coffee is quite unique," he stated. "Normally you find those in hot chocolate, something I can make for later in the day or something but in coffee, that is definitely unique. I often wondered why so many put stuff in their coffee but not me." He raised his mug in a toast, "I drink mine straight up........black." He lowered his mug and took a sip before resting it in his hands.

For a moment, he wondered what Admete thought of him or even what he was thinking. He had heard of their mind probes and knew that she could if she wanted to but as disciplined as Doc's mind was, he could usually sense if someone was doing just that. Still, he respected her abilities.

"Humans are by nature curious and trusting," he explained, the mug resting in his hands on his lap. "Despite those who feel the need to kill and destroy all they see, I would say humanity on the whole is good natured." He snorted, "Sadly, it only takes a beaurocrat, a pirate and just someone waking up on the wrong side of bed one day to ruin it for the rest of us."
He took a look over at Admete expecting at least a dirty look but didn't look long enough to notice, Rather, he raised his mug and took another sip before returning it to his lap. He snorted again, "Yeah, we do some funny stuff we humans do."

He thought a moment about the future. He knew they had to do something and he had ideas. He had no idea how good Caliban was but he figured he was very good. For now, they had good refuge but doing nothing wasn't an option. For now, the universe had to believe that Sonja was dead. It was the only way and for now, he had to keep his personal feelings for her to himself.
