Howdy,

This'd mark my first real report since my poor Spatial got blown to bits. That's fun. I still miss it a lot, especially since I'd planned to put it through more tune-ups. The Plover's at least pretty roomy.

So what have I been doing? Well, after all the unpleasantness we went and suffered through after our ill-advised idea in Zurich, I went to follow up on a few interesting leads I'd been scooping up for a while from various folks. Most ended up about as true as you'd expect spacer scuttlebutt to be, though there's still an old one I'd like to follow up on regardin' Newcastle sometime now that I'm a bit less green: I'll keep you posted there.

Following one of the more dangerous rumors recently took me to the Dallas Incident gate site in Texas - we all learned about this in school 'course, but seeing the remains up close is something else. The place is hollow, forlorn. So much wreckage worn away by time, frozen memories.

It's been many years but, it might still be worth exploring the ruins of the Research Liner or Dallas Station itself, bein' that it was once the sector's capital of hyperspatial research. Considering what we'd been through, I guess I was feelin' crazy enough to get a close look.

And yes, I'm willing to admit I have a little trouble learnin' my lesson.

The area is intensely irradiated, and the dark matter likely precludes EVA to the ruined station - too dangerous. We'd need specialized HAZMAT and safe boarding equipment if we wanted to poke around inside, though we'd have to be very careful. Not reaaally an expert, but I doubt the superstructure is gonna be all that stable after soaking in the dark matter for so long.

Then again, looking over what's left of the Hubble... I don't want that to be us someday. Not something we should consider trying out lightly. Probably not at all.



PS: Deep space science mission, really? I thought Monty was visiting family! But then I was told he was seen around the Sigmas, but his sparse messages on the internal Net are comin' through a Dublin relay. And you all remember how shook up he was? Something's up...
