Cargo piracy

PS: Next to player attitude, transports existing in balance would also help piracy-trader interactions. Last I heard, first brainstorming on this started but it is obviously lower on the list than other more pressuring pvp reworks.

Tanky, defendable transports that can be slowed significantly by blowing off a fairly easy to destroy thruster, yes. Probably shield resistances to deal with capital ship piracy.

The "theory" is all there, we even playtested the Rheinland Train pretty extensively with changes like these.

I'd say technically it would have been good to prioritize this over many PvP-focused reworks as Transports are an integral part of the game and making them more fun to interact with (and as) would probably help a bunch with the piracy/trading gameplay loops. Unfortunately there's a crapload of Transports and I at some point realized there's only about a dozen Battlecruisers, so it'd be more realistic to do their rework first. Joke's on me as each individual BC takes like a week of work.


As for the actual thread: as far as I am aware, and the rule I personally stick to, is that I demand as much as my ship can hold as a baseline. If traders are fun to interact with I can of course adjust my demands accordingly (I've always liked the idea of "rewarding" traders willing to roleplay with a smaller hit to their profit). Since I usually cargo pirate(d) in medium Transports that tended to be about 2,500 cargo.
