A New Life for the Broken Bird

Doc was laughing while Admete went on about the chocolate. "I am glad you like it," he replied to her. "As I said, most of us humans are not that bad. Sadly, a few are not doing my species any favors. As to the chocolate, I could have made it with milk. It makes it creamier but it takes from the true taste of the chocolate so I just used water. I will make it again some time. It is nice being able to make it for someone that can truly enjoy it."

He was taken aback when Sonja kissed him as it wasn't expected, especially not from a Nomad. What had he done? For the moment, he was proving that they could live together in peace.
"Thank you, Admete," he replied a bit blushed. "That was very sweet of you."
"Sonja, I can look at that shoulder if you like but I will probably wrap a cold compress on it while we travel tomorrow"

The smile on his face was replaced with a straight one. "So tomorrow it will begin. Gilbert will arrive early and we will leave shortly thereafter. If you are like me, you will sleep most of the trip so we will be well rested when we arrive in Baffin. It will be there that your transformation begins."
He thought for a moment in silence. "Admete, when I finish helping Sonja, I could use your help in something but that is for another conversation."

Doc then rose to his feet. "Ladies..." He even addressed Admete with this. "......tomorrow will be a long day so I recommend we get some sleep."
With that, he headed for the guest room where he had been staying.
