CAPTAINS LOG - Entry #46: Integration.

I must admit, I was reluctant about breaking up the crew. We've been through a lot and even the former civilians have started to feel more like brothers in arms. Still, the group was simply too big to integrate properly. Fact of the matter is that a good chunk of the former civilians were quite appealed by the thought of going back to civilian life if their services were no longer needed. So they gave me Order agents to make up the numbers, to train and prepare to function on the Torment while they did so to get the remaining crew more integrated into the Order.

It took a bloody long time but eventually the remaining crew finally started to be properly accepted by the others in the Order, we even had our first assignment since we got here. We had to prevent a bunch of Nomads from finding an Order base. This was the first time for the original crew, myself included, of actually fighting against something other than Humans, it was a surreal experience, almost makes the fighting back home seem petty in comparison. If only Liberty hadn't been so greedy and left well enough alone, perhaps there could have been peace and more attention could be spent on this war going on at the fringes of known space.

I have little understanding of Nomad vessels yet, but the Order advisor on the bridge informed me that we were facing the rough equivalent of three Cruiser class vessels. The Order base had dispatched a fighter wing to run interference before we arrived, they weren't exactly in the best of states when we got there but thanks to their efforts the Nomad vessels were positioned perfectly for us to unleash our volleys on one of them. It ended up being quite the debut of the Torment that's for sure.

In the months following we had numerous other assignments, most went well though we did run into trouble once or twice. Still, I'm glad to say this place is starting to feel like home.
