Rule Inconsistencies?

So I was just looking at that sanctino report for Cerberos - Docking on crete with a BHG tag and mercenary ID.

Now... the server rules tell us that we MUST look at the ID before engaging anyone, anywhere. They tell us to ignore the tag and focus on the ID, because tags can be faulty due to the problems with 'fixing' rep.

So... why is it that someone gets sanctioned for a tag, rather than the ID they're using? I can understand taking it in RP context in-game, maybe the corsairs dont like him all that much, but technically if he's landing on crete he's probably working for the corsairs to begin with, and I dont see some divine being swooping down to save the corsairs from their own mercs all that logical.

So how 'bout it admins? Perhaps you should start checking for ID instead of tags?
