Yes, but there are groups and lone pirates that cannot use the tactics of a freighter + disrupting fighter.

It's the same as traders without escorts.

Not everyone is a Lane Hacker. Common pirates are also known for their selfishness. Sometimes you're a lone wolf against a sequence of lone traders without escorts.

But right now, except for the Pirate Transport and two freighters that were originally meant to be civilian and Junker (Kushan and Turanic Raiders Freighter) there is not much to choose from.

And it would be kind of cool if there were ships well known to be pirate (similar to raising the jolly roger pirate flag) that would send the traders a message "I'm a pirate. Don't mess with me unless you have a fleet of cops behind you." without using the chat system.
