Rule Inconsistencies?

Yes, your tag must match your ID - that part of the rules is fine.

What I'm talking about is the rule that says players MUST use the target's equipped ID, rather than their tag, to identify them in-RP. It's tricky when you're referring to non-faction ID's as well.

Now I admit, I must have blanked out the part about him being in a BHG ship, I only saw the BHGtag / merc ID when I read the thread - so maybe he deserved the sanction. Still, I think the ID should be taken into account.

who knows, maybe he was trying to up corsair rep so he could get a titan or praetorian and be a corsair-aligned merc, but couldnt do so until he was able to land on a corsair station or planet.

First, the ID was taken into account. With the Non-Factional ID's you dont really have a whole lot to go on, so you then move to the next identifier, the Tag, if he had no tag, I would then go to the next identified, the ship, if the ship didnt tell me what I needed to know, I would move on the th equipment, if that didn't tell me, I may just ask. But all of those things should be looked at in a scaled order... ID, Tag, Ship, Equipment.



As for working on the Tag, I'll quote myself:

It is much smarter, and will lead to many fewer issues if people working on rep use the outlying bases to do their rep work. Go to Battleship Fez, or Cali, or Hamburg, or Cambridge, or Hokkaido to do them. When you go to a house's Capital, you get a lot more attention then when you do it in an out of the way place.
