Why do you not like player owned bases

Yeah, I also remember when GC was sieging bases and nobody cared.

Because we RP'd and didn't do it to grief. Either a base had weapon platforms in our lane of smuggling, the player would threaten us back and even oorp name call, or there was an attempt to require tribute (which wasn't a lot and just to name a few). After that failed and the players declined, usually after several posts instead of just one "oh found base, you must die", that's when we sieged. So yes, it is interesting that these latest sieges have stirred up the community but those sieges didn't. See the difference?

Surprise surprise folks, I've been on both sides of the fence and know how it is before you accuse me of sour grapes.

I've had some good interactions with trading with bases and even RPed with a few of their owners or suppliers (this was over a year ago mind you.). And I can also admit I haven't had much experience building or maintaining a PoB at all since their creation, but I've always been interested in trying.
I think that, with all I've read the last few days, that I do think PoB's are good, if not for economy but also for RP in some cases.

It's a fun thing to try just once. There are changes coming that will open them up even further to use either server side and in role play. I'm not saying this because of current goings on, but I would advise that if you did want to try building one of your own, wait until after the patch. Where you build your base is important based on current factions in the area, usage of your base, and where the nearby materials are. All of those items are subject to change with the next patch. You may build a base near an ore field that won't exist or has moved. Feel free to PM me if you need more information or guides.
