For a time, he paid little attention to her cuddles. It was a combination of his professionalism and his being her primary doctor. Looking at his data pad, he noticed it was getting later.
No doubt he was enjoying her company and secretly finding a liking to her but the day had been long.
"I will have to contact James in the morning officially but I can leave him a short message that I need the ship here a bit longer," he explained.
They turned a corner as they started their way toward the hospital. "Now I need to get you back to your quarters as miss Nikki is waiting for you and I do not have quarter for you here on this ship. As to you being healthy enough for release? Walking is good for you to get your new skin comfortable. I will assign you some stretches and things to do as well."

Their walk was slow and conversation went from business to some pleasure and even a laugh or two. It was here that he dropped his professionalism a bit and enjoyed the cuddle he was getting. He used the opportunity to feel her skin even taking the opportunity to look at her hand. Yes, it was settling on her nicely. She wore no patient band as the dermatologist didn't want it to interfere with her new skin.
When she kissed him, he just gave a light smile. He wasn't expecting it and for the moment, he played it off. He could sense her comfort and relaxation. He had little doubt that she could also sense his own. It has been awhile since he got this close to someone. In his mind, he was remembering Midori and how good he had it with her but for some reason, it seemed OK.
He remembered some of his other short term relationships as well that never went anywhere. For whatever the reason, they were fading away.
